From: Donald Strauss Date: March 9, 2023 Subject: A March 9 Update Hello Jochen: Well, I must admit that Jan and I are both very tired. We just returned from being in San Jose CA for 5 days having to go there to take care of our 10 year old grandson on an emergency basis. It seems that his sister (age 13) has ongoing dietary issues stemming from Covid; she now is Bolemic as she cannot taste her food. Her stomach vomits almost everything she ingests. My daughter and her husband flew her from San Jose to Denver to be admitted to an in-residential unit for care. Previously, over three week, we enjoyed being in Florida at resorts and also meeting with old friends and relatives. It was a tiring, but a wonderful time being there. We returned on a Wednesday, only to leave two days later, on Friday last week for CA. I have much to catch up on including working on my tax submission. We are scheduled to go to another cousin’s grandson's Bar Mitzvah here in Illinois next weekend followed the next day by fly to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Arizona. Then, we are scheduled to immediately to go Palm Desert CA followed by a possible stay in Los Angles with Jan’s brother. What it comes down to is this: Travel and seeing folks is important in one’s 80’s while one can do so, because a person never knows when their health will prevent them from doing so (as I learned with my recent issue with my need for surgery on my Meningioma). Jan and I are getting old and Jan has a new ache from a cyst, (which may need surgery), plus her hip is beginning to give her pain when she climbs stairs. So, how are you doing? Your health and restrictive mobility situation sounds difficult, yet (like us) you continue striving to entertain yourself and experience new knowledge. BRAVO! Please stay in touch. Don P.S. I did have a very, very brief exchange with your son, whom you indicated is very busy. Do you think he might also have an interest in communicating occasionally with me?
